While the ketogenic diet is widely known for its weight loss benefits, our research team set out to explore a less studied angle: its impact on mental well-being in the general population.
In our study, we surveyed two cohorts of healthy adults and found that individuals following a ketogenic diet reported greater emotional and psychological well-being. This included feeling calmer, more content, more alert, and experiencing lower levels of stress, depression, anxiety, and loneliness compared to those on non-specific diets.
Although keto's neurological effects have been studied in clinical settings, our findings suggest that the diet may also offer meaningful mental health benefits for healthy individuals. In short, the ketogenic lifestyle may do more than reshape your body—it could also help support a more balanced and positive state of mind.
